HKXRA was honoured to support the PolyU MSc in Metaverse Technology Best Project Award Ceremony, celebrating the outstanding achievements of students who demonstrated exceptional creativity, technical skill, and vision in shaping the future of Extended Reality (XR) and Metaverse technologies.
This year’s award-winning projects showcased innovative applications across immersive learning, cultural preservation, simulation, and interactive experiences — reflecting the growing strength of Hong Kong’s XR talent pipeline.

Project Title: Immersive Hangzhou River Experience: A VR Journey Through 3D Scanning and Digital Interaction
Supervisor: Prof Peter NG

Project Summary: This project leverages large-scale 3D scanning to create a high-fidelity digital twin of an urban environment, enabling immersive historical exploration and new applications in virtual tourism.

Project Title: Clinical Conversation Training System

Project Summary: A VR training platform for medical interns, using conversational AI to simulate high-stakes patient dialogues. This scalable solution provides a safe environment to build the essential communication and empathy skills required for clinical practice.

Project Title: A Creative System of Chinese Shadow Puppetry in the Metaverse of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Project Summary: This VR system digitizes the intangible heritage of shadow puppetry, using motion controls within a metaverse platform to enable new forms of cultural transmission and artistic expression.
