Bridging Art, Technology and Tourism Through XR Collaboration
On 17 November 2025, Hong Kong Extended Reality Association brought together leading voices from academia, industry, and the cultural sector at PolyU Hung Hom Bay Campus for a thought-provoking panel on the future of XR in Hong Kong.
Moderated by Terry Dao, alongside insights from Peter Ng, Larence Cheung, and Jonathan Wong, the discussion highlighted a critical shift — from isolated XR initiatives to a connected ecosystem that integrates culture, tourism, and immersive technology.
The panel underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration, where academia nurtures talent, industry drives technological advancement, and cultural institutions shape meaningful content and public engagement. Real-world examples demonstrated how XR can elevate storytelling, extend audience reach, and redefine cultural experiences.
As Hong Kong continues to embrace experiential tourism and digital innovation, the conversation reinforced a shared vision: to build a sustainable XR ecosystem that positions the city as a regional hub for immersive cultural experiences.
HKXRA will continue to act as a connector across sectors, fostering partnerships and initiatives that turn this vision into reality.
